                                           Hi,

here you can interesting little bits on upcoming projects, comics recently published, plans for the future and upcoming appearances. Keep on checking for updates............

APPEARANCES:

Wondercon April 25-27 at the Moscone Convention Center in San Fransisco, CA

Comic Festival 2003 May 24 & 25 in Bristol, UK

COMING OUT SOON (or just on the stands right now ):

ACROSS THE UNIVERSE DC UNIVERSE STORIES OF ALAN MOORE TP with a new cover and introduction by Dave. Preorder it now. It features all the hard to find DC stories that Alan Moore has written.

THE ORIGINALS : A Vertigo original graphic novel in black & white counting 160 pages is set for a 2003 release.

It will be written and drawn by Dave. ( can’t wait to see it ;-) )

Check below for quotes from Dave and others about the project excerpted from the Newsarama site.

“ I’ve been lucky enough to collaborate with some of the best creators in comics, from Alan Moore and Frank Miller, Mike Mignola, Jose Luis Garcia Lopez and Steve Rude” said Dave. “ It’s hard to turn away from projects with the likes of them to concentrate on collaborating with, well, myself!”

According to DC, once Gibbons hit upon the subject matter of The Originals, he knew that he had found the “ perfect vehicle for his talents and passions”

“ If I was going to spend a year or more on a single project, it was going to have to be something I had a real emotional investment in, something that related to the real world I’ve lived in. Not a science fiction story, althoughThe Originals is not set in mundane reality. Not a tedious real-life autobiography or a thinly disguised philosophical treatise, but a piece that communicated aspects of life that had been overpoweringly important to me when I was growing up.”

In The Originals , DC Comics says Gibbons creates a culture that is as convincing and tangible as the one we live in, but dramatically skewed and surreal. The attention to detail that characterizes his work are being brought to bear on both story and art, as are his storytelling and design skills.

“ Just as Dave did with Watchmen, he is creating a distinctive world and art style for The Originals “, says Karen Berger, Vertigo’s VP - Executive Editor. “ Dave has already proven himself a writer to be reckoned with, and he’s overdue to create a body of work all his own. The Originals marks the beginning of that body of work ”.

“ I wanted to come up with a visual style and presentation that are unique to The Originals and I think I’ve succeeded “, added Gibbons. “ Actually, I’m having such a great time working on this that I really don’t know why I waited so long!”

ULTIMATE TEAM UP SPECIAL :

with a section with the Fantastic Four with art by Dave and a great host of other artists, written by Brian Micheal Bendis

CAPTAIN AMERICA LIVES AGAIN !

Update!!! Alberto Ponticelli is no longer attached to this project as an artist. I read that Lee Weeks will be replacing him. Check back for more news as it becomes available

A four-issue limited series coming out in July, written by Dave Gibbons (who will draw  the covers too)  “It's a classic Cap story, lots of adventure, action, Nazis, and great, intense artwork,” said editor Bronwyn Taggert. “It’s not set in the past so much as in the ‘retro-future’ - the 1960s as people in the 1940s imagined they would be - New York City encircled by a monorail, big airship blimps landing at the Empire State Bldg., etc. Cap finds himself in this world, where the Nazis     have won WWII and where brave resistance fighters such as Ben Grimm, Peter Parker, Prof. Reed Richards and others still carry on trying to overthrow the government of New Berlin.” Asked the significance of the title “Lives Again”, the editor concluded, “It has to do with the Nazis' terrifying ultimate weapon, but I can’t say more than that without giving too much away.” (thanks to Comicon’s Newsarama for this quote)

And here is a preview of the cover and two pages from the no longer attached artist Alberto Ponticelli ( known for Marvel Knights, who is represented by Enrico Salvini at http://ponticelli.redsectorart.com )from issue

be sure to click on the scans to see larger versions. The cover is awesome !!!
